Tips For Increasing The Traffic Of Your Website

Here are some tips for increasing the traffic to their website:

  1. Choose a domain name that correctly reflects the contents of your website.
  2. Put the targeted keywords in the title as well as in the body of your webpages.
  3. Submit your website to search engines and web directories for inclusion.
  4. Submit the links to your articles to the social bookmarking websites such as digg, reddit, del.icio.us, furl.
  5. Generate traffic from Wikipedia (by posting links and references to their website) and Craigslist (by posting events related to your website). See here for more discussion about the benefit and possible pitfalls of using these tools.
  6. Get involved! Join the discussion with other blogs and discussion forums that are related to your website/ weblog. In this way, people that have the same interests as you have, get to know you and will be attracted to your website / weblog (see here for more information).
  7. Try to get others link to your internal pages(instead of just linking to your home page). Linking to the internal pages will increase the ranks of those pages in the search engines (Source).
  8. Use Google Webmaster Tools. Google webmaster tools is an easy way for you to submit all your URLs to the Google index and get detailed reports about the visibility of your pages on Google. If you already have an account, go to the Dashboard, click on your domain name, click on Links on the left side bar, and then select the pages with external links option to see how many websites are really linking to you (Source). This is useful information and tells you how well your website/weblog is performing.
