Tips For Not Losing Your Adsense Account

Here are some tips for not losing your Adsense account:

  1. Read Google Adsense Policy Program in detail. Make sure that you know what actions are legal and what actions are illegal.
  2. Do not click on your own ads! Google registers the IP address of the computer that is used to check your adsense account. (frequent) clicking on your ads from that computer will get you banned (although Adsense policies strictly mentions that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited, I do not have any evidence that clicking on the advertises in your website by mistake has led to the termination of a user's account. See google's response about accidental clicks).
  3. Do not encourage the users to click on your ads. Specifically, do not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as "click the ads," "support us," "visit these links," or other similar language. It will get you banned (Source)! The only acceptable terms are ""Advertisements" and "Sponsored Links".
  4. Do not place misleading images or arrows alongside your ads (Source).
  5. Avoid invalid clicks! Specifically, do not use robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software (Source).
  6. Do not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites (Source).
  7. Do not compensate users for viewing ads or performing searches, or promise compensation to a third party for such behavior (Source).
  8. Do not put google ads on websites with objectionable material including violent content, racial intolerance, pornography, adult content, hacking/cracking content, illicit drugs and drug, paraphernalia, excessive profanity, gambling or casino-related content, sales or promotion of weapons, sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol, sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products, sales or promotion of prescription drugs, sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods, sales or distribution of term papers or student essays, copy righted material (without permission) and any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others (Source).
  9. Google ads should be placed on webpages with content. Avoid creating websites with no content and full of ads. This against the TOS.
  10. Do not change the adsense code. You can change the color, the background and the border, but you cannot make any other changes in the code (e.g., the size of the ad blocks).
  11. You can run contextual ads from google's competitors such as Yahoo and Chitika. However, you should make sure that they do not resemble the google adsense blocks (Source).
  12. Monitor the status of your adsense account continuously. Report any suspicious activities (e.g., a surge of CTR) to google adsense team immediately.
  13. When google ads are clicked, they should open in the same window. Opening the ads in a new window is against TOS (Source).
  14. You should not disclose any information regarding your google adsense income, or any specific knowledge from individual ad units.
